Nelson suffered a crushing defeat on their return to North West Counties action on Saturday afternoon.

A brace from Lee McNally gave the visitors a two-goal half time lead, and his hat-trick goal and one from Liam Sweeney saw that lead doubled early in the second half.

Jerome Matthews pulled one back on 55 minutes to grab the Blues' first goal on their league return, but Danny Butters and Chris Palmer extended the Manchester side's lead midway through the half.

And Nelson's miserable afternoon was complete when Gary Prescott, Palmer with his second, and Adam Pegg finished off the rout in the final 10 minutes of the game.
