A six goal thriller at Victoria Park on Wednesday saw Nelson and Padiham Reserves share the points after Nelson had taken a three goal lead only to be rocked by a storming finish by the Storks.
Luke Hargreaves put the Blues in front with a superb free kick after 15 minutes and Nelson held a single goal lead at half time despite some spirited attacking by the Storks.Padiham continued to look dangerous in the second half but, after 62 minutes, it was Nelson who extended their lead. A corner kick was headed on by Johnny Hayhurst and fired home by Joe Heseltine for the Blues' second goal.
Ten minutes later, Sean Thompson put Nelson further ahead when he cut inside from the left wing and finished with an excellent shot into the far corner of the net to give the Blues a seemingly unassailable three goal lead.
But Padiham continued to push forward and pulled a goal back when Kieran Carroll scored with a low shot after 85 minutes.
The goal spurred the Storks on and within a minute Ian Whittaker scored their second goal with another good finish.
Two minutes later, Rob Addison grabbed an equaliser for Padiham in an unbelievable spell to round off a great recovery by the visitors.
