Bill Stell reports on Saturday's reserve team defeat at home to Woodley Sports.
After an enforced blank weekend, a poor second half performance by the second string ended with a defeat at the hands of Woodley Sports on Saturday.
The visitors went ahead early on with a well taken free kick. Nelson began to dominate more a quick thinking from a free kick lead to John Bradley smashing the ball home on 25 mins.
They then when into a deserved lead on 35 mins with a marvellous goal from Chris Gaskill. As two defenders hesitated Gaskill nipped between them and chipped the stranded keeper from outside the area.
Unfortunately the lead did not last long and the visitors equalised before half time.
It looked like a different team had come out for the second half as the Reserves were made to look second best as Woodley upped their game while Nelson seemed to have no answer and could not prevent Woodley scoring three more goals without reply.
This was the Reserves poorest display of the season and ended with their biggest defeat.
The team will have to put this result behind them and get their game back on song for the important cup game away to Flixton on Saturday
