The Blues second string made it five straight wins with this comprehensive win over Ashton Town.
From the off, Nelson put their opponents under sustained pressure, but had to wait until the half hour before they got their noses in front.
Sean Thompson's blistering shot was only kept out by the desperate hand of the Ashton centre half, resulting in a penalty which was well dispatched by Jamie Miller.
The second half started brightly for the Blues, and on 54 minutes Luke Hargreaves met Martin Aspinwall's right wing cross to double Nelson's advantage with a well placed header.
Three minutes later Glenn Ainsworth made it 3-0 with a sweet left foot drive which gave the visiting keeper no chance.
And, not to be outdone, Thompson grabbed a well deserved goal on 75 minutes to put the contest well out of reach for the visitors.
Next up for The Reserves is an away trip to Atherton LR on Saturday 27th (ko 3pm).
