The reserves' decent pre-season form deserted them as they suffered a heavy defeat against the Derbyshire side.
Against a strong Glossop outfit, Nelson sadly never got going in this season's curtain raiser. For the first 25 minutes they competed well with the visitors, and it proved to be an even encounter. Nelson did have a good opportunity to take an early lead, and good work from Sean Thompson led to an effort which was well saved by the Glossop keeper.
But once Vidal Spaine scored the first, more followed at regular intervals for the visitors, and the only highlight for the Blues came when Danny Oldfield scored his ninth goal in four games.
However, it was far too little too late for the Blues, who will be hoping to quickly get back on track in the next game, which is away to Oldham Town next weekend.
