Nelson were comprehensively beaten by a well organised New Mills second string side on Saturday afternoon.

Things could of been a lot different if Sean Thompson hadn't wasted a glorious chance to put the blues in the lead after only 5 minutes, but his shot was too tame to trouble the Millers Keeper. And just two minutes later a well delivered corner was met by Mark Wilson's head only for that to sail wide of the post.

Unfortunately that was as good as it got for the Blues, and only moments later New Mills took the lead when a simple throw in wasn't dealt with for the Millers forward to slot home easily.

Another two goals came before half-time to put the contest out of sight.

The second half was a more even affair but that was probably a result of some harsh words said in the changing room during the interval.

The Blues huffed and puffed and when they did find their range they found the away keeper in fine form.

The fourth goal game midway through the second half to put the final nail in the Blues' coffin.

Up next for the Blues is another home tie against Kirkham and Wesham next Saturday at 3pm.
