The reserve team were at it again on Saturday as they smashed six past Daisy Hill to continue their climb up the table. Bill Stell reports:

Nelson Reserves beat their counter parts from Daisy Hill 6-1 on Saturday thanks to a first half hat trick from Crossley, a goal in both halves from Andy Bennett and one from Gaskill, his 7th in 5 games.

Crossley hit his first goal after 6 mins, but the home side got back on level terms almost immediately with a dubious penalty.

The stalemate lasted 5 mins before Gaskill scored from close range. Crossley added his second 10 minutes later and Andy Bennett scored his first shortly after. Crossley completed his hat trick right on half time to give the reserves a 5-1 lead.

Andy Bennett scored 3 mins in to the second half from a quickly taken free kick which caught the home side napping. A combination of an improved performance by Daisy Hill and the reserves taking their foot off the pedal saw no more goals.

Manager Mick Molloy was delighted with this second big win in a row, following the 5-0 win over Atherton last week, one which moved them into 6th place in the league.
