Nelson Reserves registered their first win of the season with a well deserved away win at previously unbeaten Chadderton.
The first 45 minutes proved to be an even affair with the Blues coping well with the home sides five-man man midfield. And within two minutes of the restart, Nelson took the lead with a spectacular 18 yard scissor kick from Sean Thompson.
From then on, and following a couple of astute tactical switches by Blues manager Jon Westall, there was only one team in the game.
Chadderton did try their best for an equaliser but the Nelson back four dealt with everything that came their way.
And with six minutes to go, the three points were made safe for the boys in Blue when debutant Mark Banyard stroke a 30 yard thunderbolt into the top corner of the Chadderton net.
Next up for the Blues is a home tie against New Mills on Saturday, kick-off 3pm. Admission to the game is just £2.
