Last night's home game with Oldham was abandoned with 10 minutes to go due to a frozen pitch.
It was a bitterly cold night, and indeed it was highly surprising that the referee allowed the game to go ahead at all. Of the dozen or so games scheduled in the League, only ours and Warrington's games kicked off, and the latter also ended up abandoned before half-time.Both sides struggled on the rock hard Victoria Park surface, and as a spectacle the match was really a non-starter. Paul Sconce did manage to put Nelson ahead towards the end of the first half, but chances were few and far between.
With ten minutes left, the referee decided to abandon, and it is now likely to go to the League's management committee as to whether or not the result will be allowed to stand.
