Nelson face a trip to either Blackpool Mechanics or Burscough for the second round of the Lancashire F.A. Marsden Trophy.

The draw was made on Radio Lancashire on Friday evening, but we won't know which of the two teams we will be facing until Tuesday 17th December, when they meet in their delayed first round tie.

Blackpool Mechanics are very familiar to us of course, having been regular opponents in the North West Counties for several years. Earlier this season they came to Victoria Park in a league match as underdogs, and returned to the seaside with a surprise 2-1 victory.

Burscough also played in the North West Counties league a few seasons ago, but have enjoyed great success in recent times, and now find themselves right up in the Unibond Premier.

They are managed by ex-Aston Villa player Shaun Teale, and they started this season in great style, challenging Accrington Stanley at the top of the table before a recent slump in form which now sees them down in tenth place.

Burscough will be at home against Mechs, and will start as strong favourites to progress to a home second round match against ourselves.
