Club statement regarding the dismissal of John Bailey, as reported in yesterday's Nelson Leader.

Following a meeting of the Board of Directors of Nelson FC, John Bailey was regrettably dismissed from his position as first team manager.

John always gave 100 percent effort and commitment towards Nelson FC.

He achieved some memorable results during his time with the club, finishing third and fourth respectively in his first two seasons in charge, as well as reaching the semi-final of the Second Division Trophy during that first season.

However, last season's ninth place finish and the disappointing start to this season, where we are currently 15th out of the 18 teams, confirmed a gradual decline in progress. Despite his immeasurable passion for the game, John has taken the team as far as he can, and on that basis the club has to take positive steps to realise its ambitions.

Everyone associated with Nelson FC would like to acknowledge the loyalty John has shown to the club and we wish him the very best for the future.

Ian Lang, assistant manager, and coach David Hall took charge of the team affairs for Tuesday's game against Bacup Borough and they will continue to fulfil that responsibility in the interim period whilst a replacement is sought.
