A desperate Nelson performance last night saw them bow out of the Division Two Trophy at the first hurdle against Great Harwood Town.

The game never reached anywhere near the heights of Saturday's first game at Victoria Park, and the Harwood keeper was rarely threatened in a game in which Nelson never really got going.

After a handful of near misses, the home side took a deserved lead midway through the first half following a mistake from a Blues defender, and, while they never pressed home the advantage, they never really let Nelson get too much of a sniff at goal all night.

The home side did put the game beyond any doubt into injury time though, when a ferocious shot was fired across the keeper from the right hand edge of the penalty area.
